Proposal Submissions

Please, read carefully the instructions below before submitting your proposal.

General Regulations and Policies:

-Proposals should be submitted online to ICED
-Deadline for submission of proposals: 25th January 2010.
-Notification of acceptance will be sent on 31st March 2010. If earlier notification is required, please state and the committee will try to accommodate this.
-Presenters must register by 20th May 2010. If you have not registered by that date, your presentation will be withdrawn from the programme.

General Instructions and guidelines for Submission:

-Proposals should be submitted in English, the language of the conference, and clearly indicate the conference theme being addressed.
-The abstract must follow the guidelines detailed below in order to be accepted by the online system:
    *In Word or Rich Text Format (RTF)
    *Page size: DIN-A4 (21.0 x 29.7 cm)
    *Margins: top, bottom, left and right set to 2.5 cm
    *Abstract title in bold capital letters and centred - Times New Roman, 12 points.
    *Abstract content, Times New Roman, 10 points.
    *Keywords:According to the type of presentation chosen, keywords will be as detailed in the next
      section.
-The Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) file should be named using the following format:
The author's surname followed by initials and then six-digit date of birth, all separated by underscores. For example, if your name is Robert James Smith and your date of birth is 21st January 1965 then you would name your file "smith_rj_210165.doc" or ".rtf"

How to submit:

Online, following the directions given by the system, where you will have to enter the required data. There are two kinds of data to enter: your proposal details and also your contact details.

Proposal details

The following details will be used for selecting both proposals and sessions. Please read carefully and check the correct option when submitting through the online form:

c)  It fits one of the following conference themes:
•Quality learning
•Global quality
•Enhancing strategies
Please review the description of conference themes under “The Conference Theme” before choosing one of the options above.

d) Format
•Poster
•Seminar
•Symposia
•Workshop

e)  Abstract and Key words, included at the top of the proposal submitted (75 words; 4 keywords).

f)  Describe your Seminar/Poster proposal (about 500 words):
•Objectives
•Learning
•Outcomes
•References (Key texts mentioned)

g)  Describe your Symposia/Workshop proposal (about 500 words):
•Session Objectives/Learning Outcomes (What will delegates be able to do on completion of the session?)
•Session Activities (An indication of how the session will be structured, how activities and discussion will be facilitated and what participants will do)
•References (Key texts mentioned)
•A short description of each paper presented in it.

Considerations for the Evaluation of Proposals:

•Relevance to the theme of the conference Enhancing Strategies for Global Quality Learning in Higher Educationand the relevant sub theme.
•Clarity of session objectives/ learning outcomes
•Appeal to an international audience
•Contribution to scholarship, new or innovative practice, and evaluation and enhancement of academic development
•Opportunities for delegates to listen, talk and reflect; enabling them to take away the lessons learnt and apply them in their own context.

Technical equipment for your presentations

All rooms will be equipped with laptop computer and beamer (LCD projector). Any other equipment cannot be confirmed in advance.
